Using Quick Compare

The Quick Compare feature allows you to compare up to five different loads for easy comparison.  You can compare just the calculations or you can also graph the calculations. Any load comparison files can be printed out or saved to your hard drive.  You can also print out the load comparison graphs or copy them to the clipboard.  When you first select Quick Compare by clicking on the Quick Compare Button from the Toolbar, two windows will appear.  The first will ask you to input your default Sight In Range or 0.

After you have entered it, click OK.  A new window will appear asking you to enter your default value for your Sight In Increment comparisons.  The default values will be used each time you select Quick Compare.  You can change your default Sight In Increment Value in the Quick Compare Window (see below). After you have entered this value click OK.  The Quick Compare Window will appear with your default values added in.

You can select how many loads you want to compare to a maximum of five.  You can then select how many times to calculate the load comparisons up to a maximum of 15 times and how many yards between calculations from a value of 5 yards to 250 yards. You may choose to name your loads something other than Load 1 Load 2 etc by clicking on the Name Loads Button.  Enter your load names in the input boxes that appear for each Load.  Your new load names will appear beside the corresponding input boxes on the Quick Compare Window. You then enter your load values.  If you want to compare one load at certain Sight In increments you would then click the Adjust for Sight In Compares check box before entering your load values.  This will cause Ballistic Basics to automatically adjust the Sight In value for each load by the amount of Sight In Increments you set as your default Sight In Increment value.  You just need to enter the value for the first load and all other load values will automatically be entered.  If you would like to change your default Sight In Increment Value, right click on the Adjust for Sight In Compares check box and reset the value to your new setting.  You may also import data from any saved file you have calculated previously or from the factory load database.  To load data from a saved file click the My Data selection box or to load data from any of the factory loads database click the  Factory Data selection box.  Then move your mouse cursor over the load fields (where it says Load 1, Load 2 etc) until you see a hand holding a file.  Then click your mouse button and if it's from your own saved files, double click on the file from the file list or if it's Factory Data select the load you want then click the Export Button in the Factory Data window.  After you have entered all your values and chosen the options you would click the Run Calc's Button.  Your calculations will be displayed in the Results Box.
To enlarge each load's calculations, just double click on the one you want to enlarge and double click on it again to shrink it back to the original size.  Once a load comparison has been calculated you can view the comparisons in graph format by clicking on the Graph the Data Button.  In the message window type in a descriptive name for you graph and click OK.  Your load comparisons will be shown in a new graph window.
From here you can print out the graph to your printer by selecting the Print Graph Button or copy the graph to the Windows 9x clipboard by clicking the Copy Graph Button.  To close the Quick Compare Graph Window, just click the Exit Button.
You may choose to print the calculated collection at this time by clicking on the Print Collections Button or save the calculated collection to a file by clicking the Save Collection Button and then entering a file name in the input box that appears after you click on the button.  All Collection Files will be stored in the data folder which is located in the same directory as Ballistic Basics.  You may open these saved files from the Main Form by choosing Open File from the File Menu or clicking the Open Saved File Button on the Main Form.  Once a collection file has been saved and opened you can add notes to a collection file in the File Viewer Window that it appears in.
