Database Utilities and Tables


BC Tables

Ballistic Basic© comes with a Database that contains some of the Bullet Coefficients from four major manufactures, Plus data for Black-Powder and Shotgun Slugs.  To automatically export data to the Main Window from the database, click on the BC Tables Button on the toolbar in the Main Window. 
Choose the Manufacturer you would like by clicking on it and pressing the Next Button or just double click on the one you want. 
In the new window that appears, click on the record selector or the black arrow in the grid to highlight the record you want. 
Next, double click the record that is highlighted. 
The information will be sent to the main window. All you need to do now is enter a velocity and run the calc's.
If you would like to narrow the BC records for a particular manufacturer down to a smaller list to help you find the load you want click on the Search Button in the Table Window and enter which field you want to search by then add in the text to search for. You can use wildcards in your search text such as the * or ? keys. 
For example if you wanted to find a .45 caliper bullet from the Hornady Table click on Bullet in the Field List and type in  .45 cal* to show only .45 cal BC's as shown in the picture below. 
To once again show all the BC's for the table click on the Restore Button.
You may edit the databases by adding or delete records and create your own tables
To add a new record select the manufacturer you would like to add the record to and choose the Add New Button.

Add the information into the input boxes and then click the Add Button. 


 


Your record will be added and placed numerically into the selected database. 

Logs(Tables): (Accessing Data)

            The Bullet Grabber on the bottom of the main window allows you to quickly input bullet information from the  Bullet Coefficient Tables.
            To use the Bullet Grabber simply select a manufacturer from the first drop-down list. Use your tab key or mouse to move to the Select Bullet drop-down list and and scroll through the list. Clicking an item will select it. 
            The information will automatically be inserted into the appropriate input boxes of the main window.  Any time you add a new table to the databases it will also be added to the Bullet Grabber drop-down lists.

Logs (Tables):(Edit/New/Delete)
You may edit the databases by adding or delete records and create your own tables (Logs). 
            To delete a record from a database, select the manufacturer from the BC database and highlight the record you want to delete.  Click the Delete button. 
            If you are sure you want to delete the record, click Yes from the message box that appears.  That record will be removed from the database.  To create a new table that will store your own records click the BC Databases Button and click the New Table Button. In the new windows input box, enter a name for your table.  You can use any name you like. Click the Create It! Button.

A new table window will appear for you to add or delete records to. 
            To add a record, click the Add New Button.  Input the values in the corresponding input boxes then click the Add Button. When you are finished adding records, click the Cancel/Exit Button. 
            Click the Back Button in the new table and you will see that your new table name is now in the table names that can be selected from the Bullet Coefficient list/t. 
            To remove a table, just click on a table name from the Bullet Coefficient list box Window and click the Remove Table Button.  If you are sure you want to delete it, click Yes on the message box that appears.  The table and all it's data will be deleted and no longer appear in the Bullet Coefficient list box Window.
